Low Foot, tracking your energy usage

You have the smart meter, you may not be too happy with it, but it is here to stay now.  I’ve just signed up for LowFoot, which is a way to encourage yourself to try to save as much energy as possible!  How?  You link your LowFoot account to your Hydro account and they track how much electricity you use, and reward you when you save it!  they don’t give your information to anyone, and you can get some money for the points you earn.

May make you remember to turn off that light when you leave the room!

Low Foot is at https://www.lowfoot.com

This combined with the Changers Charger I have ordered (can’t get them in Canada yet, but I’m getting mine from Germany via Scotland) will help me reduce my energy consumption!

Two After Hour Clinics are Combining into One

As of December 1st, 2011 the two current After Hours Clinics will combine into one new clinic at a new location. The new After Hours Clinic will be housed at the offices of the CKL Family Health Team at 55 Angeline Street North, between Giant Tiger and National Grocers in the Town and Country Mall.

The clinics at the two current locations will not operate after Dec. 1st.   The new clinic will be open for 3 hours and will have  two physicians (most days) whose shifts will overlap during those three hours. There will be two clerical staff on duty to assist with registration for the clinic and the provision of clinic appointments for that 3 hour period.

Patients arriving at the After Hours Clinic will be registered and then given an appointment time for later that same day or evening. This will allow patients to leave the waiting room and return for their appointment at the appropriate time. It is hoped that this will enhance convenience for patients and improve the waiting room experience with fewer people having to wait for the full 3 hour period.

Appointments will not be offered by telephone. There will be ample, free parking. Laboratory facilities and x-ray examinations will not be available on site.

Hours:

Weekdays from 6pm to 9pm with the last appointment booked for 8:50pm.

Weekends and Holidays from 9am to 12 Noon with the last appointment booked at 11:50am.

Canadians take a stand against online spying

The government is set to ram through a new set of electronic surveillance laws that will allow authorities to access private information of any Canadian, at any time, without a warrant. You’ll be forced to pay for this online spying scheme.

The government has failed to inform Canadians about the privacy and data security implications of this scheme, but Canadians are stepping up to the plate. Share these important citizen-made videos with everyone you know before it’s too late—let’s stand together and make our voices heard. Go to OpenMedia.ca to find out more.
